What is the sims online? a new expansion or a website or so?

It's a separate game, based on the Sims, which you play online with other people. You control up to three sims, but only one at a time. A new (free) 14-day trial comes out regularly which you can download to try the game. See TheSimsOnline.ea.com for more info.
