yes u can have eight in one household but its possible to have more than six kids, you see if a wom/man had an aspiration of a romance sim they could keep on making babys for different sims then move out of the house simple! i know its not a very nice thing to do, leaving people to become single parents but its a good idea though!

It is 8, but it's possible to have 7 and then have twins according to a chat. I don't know how the game would handle this, though.

You can have more than eight kids in a 'nice' way as well (instead of leaving your partner): make sure a kid grows up and moves out.. and get some space for a new kid.

In the original it's eight too. I used to think it was four but then I have a house with the following residents: four sims and two cats.
