Sims can get married to one sim, then cheat on them and get married amny more times,without that other sim knowing, or with themknowing. sims can also divorce and get married again and again up to 25 times.

Since family is so important in Sims 2, I do not believe that polygamy is possible. Since marrying someone will mean much more to your Sim than just "whoop, I have a person to increase my social meter!" you will only be able to marry one person at a time. You can, however, have affairs. Also, you can get remarried in the event of a divorce or death of a spouse.
