There is no official information about expansion packs yet, but Maxis does not have the intention to recreate exactly the same expansion packs as for The Sims 1. There might be some kind of vacation addition some time, but we won't know about it until it's been revealed by Maxis.

You can have Aprtments, Dorms, and a Vacation Home, but no hotels yet.

No rent. There will be bills, but not rent. You can have more than one family living in the same lot and pretend that they are in an apartment building, but there will only be up to 8 people and they will all share the same money pot.

Oooh, I'm going to have all my Sims living in apartments. Just like the TV Comedy (Friends), that ended after a decade full of laughter...and alot of cash for the actors.
