Well, um... When they reach a status of "Love" or a social meter of 100, the option "Play" is enavled on the Vibrating bed.

That's how it was in the Sims 1. Now the social meter doesn't necessarily have to be at 100 and the bed (thankfully) doesn't vibrate. Also sims can "Play" on any bed (double bed, that is) and in the hot tubs and dressing booths.

They can Play for 'Fun' or Make a Baby, according to a Sims Site.

But the Make a Baby feature; I think that it will only work in Beds

You can "try for baby" in the hot tub and I think it works in the car as well. Well, in Sims 2.

If you have a female sim over at a male sim's house , they can woo hoo but not try for baby. I guess she can only get pregnant at home.
