can sims invest $ or is work the only way to earn money?

the sims can have money trees and paint and sell their paintings! thats how they can make $

I do not believe that there is an "investment" option. However, you can make money by getting a job, inheritance, painting, writing a novel, or the money tree aspiration object (which you can buy once you have enough aspiration points).

Also if you have paintings or things like them "arty" they will increase in value over time, this also includes if you are highly skilled in creativity and you paint a picture, if you keep it it will increase in value over time
