How come when I play the sims after downloading lots of stuff it keeps shutting off and im losing all my memory?

Usually means you've got too many downloads for the game to cope with.

What Neil said makes a lot of sense, but I'm not too sure about it... It might just be too many items (etc) for your /computer/ because I download lots of stuff everyday and my game doesn't have any trouble.

How much exactly is "lots of stuff"?

The game is not a bottomless pit so far as stuff goes - there is an upper limit of about 65k overall including the items that come with the game as default.

Therefore if you was to go round and download absolutely everything that's on offer from absolutely everywhere then you'd soon run out of space.
