I have a version of Sims 1 that worked perfectly fine under Win98. After having in installed it on a WinXP system it seems to work fine. However, whenevr I try to save I ge a pop-up saying 'Save House -- An error was encountered saving the house'. Fix??

go to start buttton and clink search all files and folders and type
housetemp.iff and make sure that it saids housetemp.iff if you do find delete. that should fix your problem.

vista fix
uninstall the game which will leave game data and userdata files in program file menu under maxis.
reinstall the game in your user file under documents then maxis.
once installed copy the old data from programs over the newly installed ones.
viola problem solved
