I have the sims deluxe and unleased installed, and I decided to download some Skins, meshes, and items from Lord of the Rings sites, but now I can't play the sims! It gets to the little slide show at the beginning, then it stalls to the desktop.

perhaps your computer has a virus. visiting a website with a virus is enough to get it. all i am saying is maybe that website you got your "lord of the rings" skins had a virus. there problably isnt a problem with your sims game

www.grissoft.com and get their free version of AVG antivirus6.0

try deleing the objects you insalled
from your game/data floder,than
restart game it should work,because
you have a bad file
