You can have up to eight, but once they are teens or adults they can move out and begin their lifes, then they would have children and so one and so forth.

you can have an unlimited number of family members (as long as they all fit in the neighborhood!). However, in a single lot, you can only have 8 Sims at a time.

I think you should be able to have more in certain houses like Retirement homes.

i wish they had more than 8 people per houehold coz i really like big, big families! I know i can handle it. Is anyone else with me?

I'm with you trustar! I want to start a group home for foster kids, and an old folks home, and a bunch of other things that would require more people. Gah! Maxis shouldn't just assume we can't handle 9 people or more.
