a romance sim and a family sim wouldn't mix very well together, would they?

They are incompatible as most of their wants are in direct conflict with with each other but that does not necessarily mean that they are unplayable - it just adds an extra layer of difficulty to the game.

The romance sim loses alot of aspiration with a family sim.

The family sim wants to get engaged then married then have children, and they are the last things the romance sim wants.

The romance sim just wasts to woohoo everybody!

No, not really, as the family sim will want to get married and have kids, and this concept would horrify the romance sim

I've played it just fine actually. A family sim can also be kept happy with having lots and lots and lots of very good friends or spending much quality time with a child if there is one (for example if you created a single mother with child originally, with a romance sim roomie), and the romance sim can go to the common lots to woohoo there with everybody he meets. If your romance sim goes to those lots alone, he won't be caught cheating.
Knowledge sim plus family sim are the best combo, I find.
