every time i carve tha wood it turns out to be a row boat

i just finished explaining this question to someone else...if you are trying to make a petrified chess peice then i suggest you save the game before your carve it then try carving. if it isn't a chess peice then turn your game off and do it again. it's gonna take a while but it's a lot faster than making the wrong peices and having to look for more wood.
