Can 2 guys or two girls get together?

Yes! I've tried it both ways! They can get together but they can't have kids (obviously) unless you adopt which is tonnes easier in this sims! lol

They can go together and they can have kids if you use the boolprop testingcheats enabled true cheat and spawn the tombstone of life and death. You can choose to "get pregnant with..." anyone that is on your lot.
