i just got my game and i dont know how to get things out of inventory

this is all in done in action field upon other sims, it depends on what the item is. If it is a gift then give as a gift to somebody, the sim will act automatically using the right item from inventory. Just look for corresponding menus on npc or item

Some things in inventory have to be used to get out, for example spell ingredients. There's one however that just gets de-inventoried as soon as you get home from Magic Town: the dragon egg.
