What does the sim have to do to get one of the career rewards?

If you go to work on time and in a good mood, you get promoted and in time you get the career reward!
Or use the cheat "unlockcareerrewards" and all of them are unlocked! ;)

Get a certain number of promotions. It sucks because if you educate your sims well before they start, they start at a higher career level and then sometimes it's impossible to get a career reward, even if you reach the top.

Anyway depends on the reward. The police reward (fingerprints scanner) is entertaining and gives cleaning points, the science career reward (lab equipment) builds logic, the military career reward (sporting equipment) builds body points etc.
