If your using a program like winzip to open them, instead of just hitting enter when it goes to unzip them hit browse and go into local disc c:/program files/EA games/the sims and I believe it says sims data next and after you click on that it should say either hair, lots, etc. Just put the item into the correct category and you should be set.

Any unzipper will do.

Wimzip, IZarc, PowerArchiver, WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc etc etc.

Well it easy really...just go on ur local drive and press extract, then go into Program files\maxis\the sims. U probably already knew this but:
cmx, skn or bmp files go in gamedata\Skins
some bmp files go in gamedata\roofs
Objects USUALLY go in
the sims\downloads
walls go in gamedata\walls
fllors go in gamedata\floors
I think that's it....hope it helped

Or you can put the files into a special Sims down loads folder and then move them there later.
