I tried installing sims 2. a screen came up but then a sign came up saying "the application has crashed,the application will now terminate". i followed the instructions and have installed direck x.My video card is ok so why isn't it working?

That happened to me lots of times, install an expansion pack and the problem should fix (worked for me, not sure if it works for you)
