OK... :-} I've found replacement car and pedestrian portals, mail boxes, and trash cans... however, my downloaded 'house' now doesn't have a telephone line... so even though the maid/gardener can get there now, I can't call them still :( Any ideas????

A few possible solutions:
- Make sure your Sims have a phone (I assume that's taken care of). You could try selling and buying a new one
- Try the prepare_lot cheat
- If the "Phoneplugin.iff" file exists in your GameData\Objects directory in the Sims' folder (by default that's C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims). If it does, move it away out of the Sims folder (to the recycle bin for instance). Try running the game. If it works, completely delete the PhonePlugin.iff file. If the game behaves even worse, restore it from the location where you saved it (e.g. the recyclebin).

Thanks, I appreciate your response.
-They do have a phone and I have tried selling and buying it back.
-The prepare lot cheat is the one that tells me there is no phone line, when I try to call someone, they just pick the phone up and hang it back up.
-could it be the phoneplugin.iff when it's only one house in the neighborhood?
