I just created an awesome house, how do I know which house is the one I created in the UserData folder, or is this the wrong directory?

Which neighbourhood did you put it in? If it's n #2 then it will be user data 2 in it's n1 then it will be just userdata and so on.

Simple: look at the house number. House01.iff for example is the house on Sim Lane 1, House02.iff Sim Lane 2, and so on.

Note that houses don't contain families. If you want to include the family, check make sure you choose to "export HTML pages", save your family, and the file is in the export folder (with the family name there at first).

You can use The Neighborhood Handler to preview houses.

The houses for each neighbourhood live in
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData\Houses. (UserData changes to UserData2 for the second neighbourhood and can go up to UserData99 if you have Unleashed).

When you hover over a house on the Neighbourhood screen, it tells you which file you're using in the Houses folder for that neighbourhood. 8 Sim Lane, is the file House08.iff.
