I have the sims deluxe edition, I can't seem to get past the start up, when it goes through the begaining it jumps back to my desktop, I was told that it was my S card I went out and got a new SB card and it's still doing it, what can be done about it?

that happened 2 me 2!!!! I took it back 2 the shop and got the sims on holiday instead.

Try using the -w command line parameter to run the game in a window. Right click the shortcut in your start menu and choose properties. In the Command field (where it says something similar to "C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Sims.exe") add -w (with a space in front of it). So it could for instance become:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\sims.exe" -w

Also make sure your video card drivers, directX etc. are all up to date. See the installation guide for more details about that.

I have the same problem when running from the .exe

Running from Autoplay works tho.
